Gomazi, Balochistan – A 16-year-old student, Mairaj, son of Abdul Qadir and a resident of Gomazi, was fatally shot in a targeted attack at Shinkan Bazar in Gomazi, Tump. According to reports, an armed assailant called the victim over to speak with him, and as Mairaj approached, the assailant shot him at close range before fleeing the scene.
Mairaj sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital, but tragically succumbed to his wounds on the way.
The Human Rights Council of Balochistan has condemned the incident and highlighted the alarming trend of targeted killings in the region. From January 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025, the council reported 180 cases of targeted killings across Balochistan, carried out by armed assailants. This tragic event underscores the ongoing violence and insecurity faced by Baloch citizens.
