A conference on Gross Human Rights Violations in Sindh and Balochistan was held on Wednesday 29 January 2025 in the House of Commons. The conference was hosted by MP Bob Blackman and organised by the Asian Human Rights Forum (AHRF), with the collaboration of the Baloch Human Rights Council (BHRC) and the World Sindhi Congress (WSC).
The room was packed with participants from the human rights community. Asian Human Rights Forum distributed a booklet highlighting human rights violations in Pakistan.
Mr Blackman stated that the British Parliament has always stood for the human rights of all across the world. He added that the booklet by AHRF worried him that there are serious allegations of human rights violations in Pakistan. Pakistan is the recipient of a good amount of aid from our government, and we should make sure that people in Pakistan enjoy their fundamental human rights. Our government will keep an eye on the track record in Pakistan.
Mr Arif Aajakia of AHRF thanked Bob Blackman MP for organising this conference and giving chance to oppressed people of Sindh and Balochistan to present their cases. He said that the brutal Pakistan Army has occupied Sindh and Balochistan by force and exploited its huge natural resources, without any benefits reaching the common people.

Dr Khurshed Karim of BHRC highlighted the situation of Baloch missing persons and expanded on how the Pakistan army is committing genocide of Baloch people in Balochistan. Balochistan has been an independent State historically, but Pakistan has occupied Balochistan illegally since 1947. Balochistan is rich in natural resources, but the Pakistani Army is looting its natural resources, while common Baloch people have no health and education facilities. Baloch men are kidnapped by the Pakistani Army and are never presented in any court of law, thus making them missing persons.
Dr Hidayatullah Bhutto of WSC presented the case of Sindh giving details on how the agricultural lands of Sindh are being allotted illegally to the Pakistan Army for corporate farming. The people of Sindh will never allow anyone to occupy their lands illegally. The resources of Sindh are being looted by the military-controlled Federal Government. Sindhis have been denied their civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights.

Ms Hafeezan Wadhio of WSC presented the case of the Indus River water issues. Indus River is the main and only river of Sindh but Punjab (a state within Pakistan) usurps all the water before it can reach the fields of Sindh. Punjab has made so many canals on the river, thus depriving Sindh of water for its household and agricultural use.
The conference was attended by representatives from the Baloch Human Rights Council, World Sindhi Congress, Asian Human Rights, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM London), and Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement. Participants collectively raised strong concerns regarding enforced disappearances, violations of religious freedoms, and the illegal exploitation of natural resources in Sindh and Balochistan.
The conference ended with a vote of thanks and the request to the British Government to apply pressure on the Government of Pakistan to restore basic human rights in Pakistan.
