London, 8 June 2025 — Baloch human rights and political activist Aomar Karim joined a protest held outside 10 Downing Street, calling attention to the 16th anniversary of the enforced disappearance of Zakir Majeed Baloch, a senior leader of the Baloch Students Organization (Azad).
The protest was organised by the Baloch National Movement (BNM) and drew attention to the widespread issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. Demonstrators carried placards with messages including “Release Zakir Majeed,” “End Enforced Disappearances,” and “Justice for Baloch Missing Persons.”
Participants urged the UK government, the United Nations, and the broader international community to take serious notice of ongoing human rights violations in Pakistan and to press for the safe recovery of the forcibly disappeared.
Zakir Majeed’s mother, Raj Bibi, also attended the protest and stated that she was compelled to leave Pakistan due to the complete failure of justice there. She said her presence in the UK serves as a voice for thousands of other families whose loved ones remain missing.
Many Baloch political and human rights activists, along with members of various parties, attended the protest to express solidarity and demand justice for the forcibly disappeared.
Aomar Karim’s participation in the protest reaffirmed his continued commitment to highlighting the plight of the Baloch people and standing in solidarity with the families of the disappeared.
Informational leaflets were distributed at the protest, outlining the serious human rights situation in Balochistan and calling on international bodies to hold Pakistan accountable for enforced disappearances.
