A massive protest rally was organized today by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) in Naal, Khuzdar against the targeted killing of Shahjan Baloch, the 11 Years of enforced disappearance of Chairman Zahid Baloch, and the ongoing systematic violence perpetrated by the Pakistani state and its affiliated death squads.
BYC central leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sammi Deen Baloch, and Sibghatullah Shahji, addressed the rally. Victim families also spoke, including Qambar Baloch, son of Chairman Zahid Baloch; the sister of Shaheed Sharif Shazad; and Areef Baloch, son of missing person Zakir Ismail.

On March 18, 2014, Zahid Baloch and Asad Baloch were forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies. Today marks 11 years since their disappearance.
The family of Zahid Baloch has faced relentless state violence. His brother, Shahjahan Baloch, was recently martyred by state-backed death squads. Shahjahan, the sole breadwinner of the family, made a living through a small business. Meanwhile, Nasir Karim, a political activist, was also targeted by state-backed elements but miraculously survived.

In her address, Dr. Mahrang Baloch emphasized that the Baloch struggle for existence has spanned decades and is not confined to any single political family or party but is a collective movement of the Baloch people. She further stated that Years ago, Chairman Zahid carried the bodies of his martyred comrades. Today, we stand here, raising our voices for his martyred brother, who was killed in cold blood. The Baloch people must realize that silence does not guarantee safety. The Pakistani state is deploying every tool at its disposal to suppress and eliminate us. Its narrative is clear: conduct military operations, kill every Baloch, and abduct our youth. But Pakistan must also understand that for every Baloch it kills, another will rise in their place. Our collective resistance is the key to our national survival.โ

Sammi Deen Baloch highlighted the constant fear in which Baloch families live, contrasting the actions of those who commit enforced disappearances with the suffering of victim families. She further said that A mother warns her child not to go outside, fearing they might be abducted. Yet, the mothers of those involved in enforced disappearances do not stop their children from committing such atrocities. The Pakistani state continues to target unarmed civilians, waging war on the Baloch nation instead of engaging in political dialogue. But todayโs gathering proves that if one Zahid is silenced, a thousand Zahids will rise to take his place.โ

Sibghatullah Baloch condemned the unjust killings and persecution of the Baloch people. He further said that No one can prove that a Baloch has ever gone to Punjab to kill a Punjabi, yet our people are being subjected to genocide in their own homeland. The brother of Sangat Zahid was murdered without justification, simply as punishment for his political struggle. Killing an innocent trader is neither justified by Islamic law, state law, nor basic morality. Yet, Pakistan has crossed all limits in its persecution of the Baloch nation.โ

Qambar Zahid, the young son of Chairman Zahid Baloch, shared his painful story:
โWhen we speak out, we are either abducted or killed. My father, Chairman Zahid Baloch, has been missing for eleven years, and I have never even seen his shadow. We donโt know where he is or what condition he is in. In his absence, my father was Shahjahan Baloch, but now he, too, has been taken from us. We were in Quetta when we received a call to come to Naalโโthereโs good news,โ they said. We were hopeful, thinking maybe our father had returned. But when we arrived, we learned that Shahjahanโs shadow had also been taken from us.
