Faraz, son of Bahadur, a 23-year-old resident of Koshqalat, Tump, was shot dead by a state-backed death squad. The squad, which is being weaponised by the Pakistani state, gives them the power to crush every voice and youth in Balochistan. The same state won’t take a single action against them. They backed them to spread fear and do whatever they want like harassment, blackmailing and threatening families for their own needs too.
Faraz was a young civilian raised under significant hardship by his family. He was an embroidery pattern artist. Like many others in Balochistan, he was striving to build a future and support his family. His life was tragically cut short in an act of violence that has become increasingly common across Balochistan.
The situation in Balochistan continues to deteriorate, with daily reports of mutilated and lifeless bodies being recovered. Families repeatedly receive the tragic news of sons and brothers lost to targeted violence. Young men, raised with sacrifice and hope, are being killed in brutal and inhumane ways, leaving their families to endure lifelong trauma, grief, and psychological devastation. The recurring discovery of bullet-riddled bodies across multiple districts reflects a deepening crisis of targeted killings and violence.
The international community can no longer remain a bystander to the systematic erasure of the Baloch people; we formally call upon the United Nations Security Council and the International Criminal Court to hold the Government of Pakistan accountable for what has escalated into a state-backed genocide. This campaign of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial “kill-and-dump” operations demands more than mere “concern” or empty words.
