Geneva Seminar on Pakistan’s Occupation of Azad Jammu & Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan
This seminar was held to draw the attention of the international community to the ongoing civil and human rights violations in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), both of which are occupied by Pakistan. Since 1947, the residents of these regions have suffered due to the invasion and illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, including Gilgit-Baltistan, which began on October 22, 1947, by tribal forces supported by the state.
Pakistan continues to commit human rights violations and kill innocent people, with many individuals on both sides facing enforced disappearances at the hands of the Pakistan Army. Today, demographic changes are being forcibly introduced to further suppress the legitimate voices of the people resisting this unlawful occupation.

The Baloch Human Rights Council is honoured to host a distinguished event featuring Professor Carina Jahani, a world-renowned scholar and expert on the Balochi language from Uppsala University, Sweden. Professor Jahani will visit London in June 2025 to launch her latest publications in Balochi. In recognition of her contribution to Balochi linguistics and literature, a full-day programme has been organised on Sunday, 22nd June 2025. This event will provide a valuable platform for the UK-based Baloch community to engage in meaningful discussions on the current challenges and future prospects of the Balochi language.
