The family of Zahid Ali, a 25-year-old student of International Relations at the University of Karachi, has completed the 32nd consecutive day of protest outside the Karachi Press Club, demanding his safe return.
Ali was allegedly forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces on 17 July 2025, along with the rickshaw he drove part-time to support his family. His disappearance has drawn growing concern from rights groups and student organisations.
Despite suffering from hepatitis, Zahid’s father, Abdul Hameed, has remained at the camp throughout the weeks-long protest, refusing to leave until his son is released. Witnesses say his health has worsened, but he continues to insist on staying.
Families, activists and students have called on Karachi residents, journalists and human rights defenders to visit the camp, stand in solidarity, and amplify demands for Zahid’s immediate release.
