London Protest Demands Release of All Missing Persons Held by Pakistan on International Day of Enforced Disappearances
Activists, including Aomar Karim, rallied outside 10 Downing Street in London on 30 August 2025, calling for justice for victims from Balochistan, Sindh, POJK, and Pashtoon regions.
London, 30 August 2025 – Political and human rights activists gathered outside the UK Prime Minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street on Saturday to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances. The protest, organised by the Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM), was joined by representatives of Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtoon, Pojk, and other oppressed nations under what they describe as “illegal Pakistani occupation”.
The demonstration drew participation from a broad coalition, including the Voice of Missing Persons Sindh, Balochistan National Movement (BNM), Baloch Republican Party (BRP), Pashtoon Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and the National Equality Party JKGBL.
Speeches and Memorandum Submission
A memorandum was formally submitted to the UK government, urging it to press Pakistan to end enforced disappearances and release missing persons. Protest leaders said the practice of enforced disappearances was being systematically used to silence political dissent and terrorise communities.
The protest was addressed by Sohail Abro, Chairman of JSFM; Mansoor Hab, Member of JSFM’s Central Executive Committee; Sajjad Raja, Chairman of the National Equality Party JKGBL; Sarang Sindhi from the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh; Mansoor Baloch of BRP UK; Abdul Malik Ahmadi, PTM UK Coordinator; Ilyas Anwer, BNM activist from Manchester; and Jasim Baloch of BNM.
Participant’s Reflection
Among those present was Aomar Karim, a Baloch political and human rights activist, who later shared his thoughts on social media:

Call for International Action
Speakers condemned what they called “systematic abductions and extrajudicial practices” in Sindh, Balochistan, Pashtoon regions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They urged the United Nations, the UK, and other democratic governments to take immediate action and hold Pakistan accountable for human rights violations.
The demonstration concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to continue campaigning for the rights of oppressed nations and to ensure that the voices of the disappeared are not forgotten.

“Smart, taut and electrifying, the tale fuses slapstick and the fun of a cat-and-mouse thriller with the serious reckoning work of a state-of-the-nation novel.” — The Guardian
This video features the ...book launch event of Rebel English Academy by award-winning author Mohammed Hanif.
The story begins when a major Pakistani political figure is hanged, triggering protests in OK Town. Nearby, Sir Baghi runs the Rebel English Academy language school, where an unexpected visitor, Sabiha, arrives seeking refuge while carrying a gun and hiding a violent and personal past. Meanwhile, disgraced intelligence officer Captain Gul is stationed in OK Town, tasked with suppressing unrest while navigating shifting loyalties, personal desire, and increasing political tension.
During this event, Mohammed Hanif reads excerpts from the novel and discusses its central themes, including political power, state violence, modern Pakistan, education, religion, sexuality, and dissent. The session also includes a Q&A addressing the Pakistan military, governance, and human rights issues.
Rebel English Academy is a darkly humorous, politically charged novel that explores a rapidly changing society through interconnected lives shaped by violence, humour, and resistance.
