Balochistan – The family of Zulfiqar Ali Marri, a resident of Kohlu who has been missing since February 19, has urged both authorities and human rights organisations to intervene in efforts to secure his safe recovery.
Speaking to local journalists, the family revealed that Zulfiqar was taken from his hostel on Jan Muhammad Road in Quetta by unidentified individuals in the early hours of February 19-20, around 4:30 AM. Since that time, he has remained missing.
According to relatives, Zulfiqar had been in Quetta for a few days to attend an interview and take a test at Khuzdar University. Concerned about the security situation in Balochistan, the family had ensured that Zulfiqar completed his F.Sc. education in Punjab. Described as a brilliant student, Zulfiqar had achieved 90% in his matriculation exams, securing the top position in Dera Ghazi Khan district. His school recognised his academic success by displaying posters and pictures of him at the school’s main gate and along Jampur Road, where they remain visible to this day.
The family further explained that Zulfiqar had reluctantly travelled to Quetta to pursue his university admission, preparing for an entrance test scheduled for February 23. He had enrolled in an academy and frequently visited a library for his studies. “How could such a talented student be involved in any unlawful activities? He had only been in Quetta for a few days and had spent most of his academic life in Punjab, where strict regulations on phone use and movement in schools and colleges were enforced,” the family questioned, expressing their distress at his disappearance. They added that no information has been provided regarding his whereabouts, which has left them in profound anguish.
Zulfiqar’s family has strongly reiterated their call for immediate action, urging both the authorities and human rights organisations to assist in his safe return.
