The statements made by the DG ISPR regarding Balochistan are nothing but lies and slander. I generally avoid analysing or amplifying these statements because the more a lie is repeated, the stronger it becomes—strong enough to bury the truth. But this time, a response is necessary. In his recent press conference, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said, “Expose their mutilated demonic face.” That is exactly what we want—to expose the mutilated demonic face. But whose face is that? Is it the face of those who stand for truth and justice using constitutional and legal means? Or of those who are running a marketplace of oppression and terror? Those who panic when asked questions? Those who are unsettled when questioned about where Pakistan’s constitution is, where justice is, where the forcibly disappeared persons are, where the justification for military interference in politics is, and what legitimises terror and barbarity? What’s the logic behind torturing us and other political activists? Those who call themselves protectors—are they truly protectors?
Mr. DG ISPR, we have never been afraid of questions, nor have we ever run away. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) is still firmly present among the people. The BYC is still fighting legally and constitutionally on every front. But the state has nothing but accusations—no evidence so far. For two months, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Shah Jee Baloch, Gul Zadi Baloch, and Bebo Baloch have been illegally detained. The only justification courts have been presented with are the repeated imposition of Section 3 of the MPO, which itself was applied unlawfully. So tell us—who is wrong? The DG ISPR, or his own Balochistan High Court?
The leaders of our organisation, whom the military spokesman accuses of being proxies, whom he claims receive foreign funding, and whom he blames for collecting the bodies of the Jaafar Express attackers—yet even after two months, not a single piece of evidence has been submitted to court proving they received foreign funds or that Dr. Mahrang and others took bodies from Civil Hospital. At every court hearing, the judiciary has only faced embarrassment over these violations. Despite using the entire state machinery, the government has nothing—no rationale, no legal justification, no evidence. And how could they? Because there is no truth in any of these allegations.
We will tell you who has the demonic face. We have proof. We have footage. We have the public. The only thing we lack is a court—and for us, our court is our nation, and every person with reason who can see the truth and stand for it. Mr. DG ISPR, you should announce a public referendum in Balochistan. Allocate a ground—on one side, gather those who believe BYC and Mahrang Baloch are terrorists and have evil intentions. On the other side, gather those who support BYC, who believe there’s only one real devil and oppressor in Balochistan—the state army.
Fill your side with gifts, job offers, and lures. Put your bought-out politicians there. And let the other side gather those who stand against military oppression and support BYC. Then witness where the people gather. See the ocean of humanity that will expose your every lie and crime. If, on that day, BYC has only ten or fifteen supporters, hang us in that very ground, in front of them. And we don’t just say this—we’ve already done it. Ask your army, which couldn’t stop the Raaji Muchi in Gwadar even with the support of global powers. And if we call for another Raaji Muchi today, could you stop it? Never. What do you have besides violence? Do you have logic? Truth? Law? Nothing.
Demonic, mutilated faces belong to those whose profession is global begging, who loot national resources and become island-owners, who run a country on debt, who destroy the rule of law, judiciary, and parliament like termites, who remove reason from education, who operate the country solely on the basis of lies, who crush peaceful movements until they are forced into violence, who leave the public at the mercy of poverty and then extort them, who empower drug dealers, elevate murderers and rapists, who shelter terrorists and then orchestrate terrorism in their own country for money, who divide Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtun, and Punjabi to reap the benefits of war. Look at every issue from the federation to the provinces—social or political—who is involved? The army. So whose is the demonic, mutilated face?
The real question the people of Pakistan should ask is: why, after forced annexation, did Balochistan never truly become part of Pakistan? Investigate whether India is truly behind every issue—or if these are all acts of your own army. Is it not possible to address freedom movements politically and seriously? According to political science, it is. But who listens to political science here? For 77 years, everything has been in the hands of the military—operation after operation, oppression after oppression—even on a movement that only stands for human rights, not freedom. Does the state believe that by crushing BYC, it can end the armed insurgency in Balochistan? Absolutely not. In fact, state violence against BYC will only strengthen those armed movements and validate their narrative: that peaceful political resistance in Pakistan is impossible, that in such a country, the only path left is armed struggle.
Consider what the United Nations recently said in a statement:
“Pakistan must intensify efforts to address grievances in Balochistan that could potentially fuel violence. Under the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, all states recognise that to effectively combat terrorism, they must address the conditions conducive to its spread—such as unresolved conflicts, weak rule of law, human rights violations, discrimination, political exclusion, economic and social marginalisation, and poor governance.”
So, before eliminating terrorism, resolve unresolved conflicts, end discrimination, end political exclusion, stop human rights violations, tackle economic and social marginalisation, and fix poor governance. Then, sit down and talk to the Baloch. This violent rhetoric, this angry tone, these threats, this fascism—they are not only a burden on us, but the biggest existential threat to Pakistan itself. You give Sindhi nationalists corpses for demanding water, you imprison 70-year-old leaders in Gilgit-Baltistan, you’ve held Pashtun leader and MNA Ali Wazir in jail for years, Pashtun children die in drone strikes and their corpses protest for justice, and the Baloch live lives filled with pain and slavery. Enforced disappearances, mutilated bodies, burned homes—when the army pleases, the network is shut down, roads are blocked, arrests are made, and if someone is not found, their brother or father is picked up and blackmailed.
So tell us—whose face is truly the mutilated, demonic one? The one who imitates the behavior of Hitler, Hulagu Khan, and Genghis Khan, or the one who simply seeks a dignified human life and peace? Whose face deserves to be exposed? The one devouring the country through tyranny and lawlessness, or those struggling peacefully for life—for everyone—with unarmed masses behind them, from innocent children to elderly mothers, backed by prayers, love, and hope?
So tell us, sir—whose face is the demonic, mutilated one? Every conscious person knows the answer. Even if they lack the courage to speak it—or have sold their tongues. Every thinking person knows who breaks the law, who tramples the constitution, who manipulates it for their own will, who has corrupted the judiciary, media, and parliament, and who is the murderer of humanity.
And sir, you say BYC only has ten to fifteen people with them? Then how did those ten to fifteen people frighten you so much? It’s been two months of continuous crackdown—firing, shelling, internet shutdowns, arrests, harassment, blackmail—you’ve done it all. Yet protests continue across Balochistan. Imagine—every institution of the state has come out in full force: media, judiciary, police, CTD, FC, ISI, MI, death squads. All have collaborated in illegal efforts to either arrest BYC members, scare them, or silence them. And what happened? Were you successful? Absolutely not.
Even now, if we organise a Raaji Muchi in any city, you won’t find room to set foot. Our slogans will drown out your bombs. And if we’re delaying, it’s because we care about human lives. We know that our one call can unite the entire Baloch nation. But we also know that you, with your mutilated demonic face, will again resort to violence and fire bullets at unarmed people—just as you did during the protests in Raaji Muchi and Quetta.
That’s why we don’t want to put unarmed people in the line of fire. But if you continue this genocide, and believe that we will stay silent, know that it’s not possible. We will continue this struggle until justice prevails, until you kneel, until the pride of the oppressor is shattered. And our generations will inherit this struggle. Those with conscience, who cannot bear to see this country’s history become darker, must come forward and play their role in stopping this oppression. Because for us, this is a matter of pain and suffering—but for the country’s history, it is a stain that will be remembered by future generations. Every general, every soldier, every violator of law, and every silent citizen will one day be judged by this truth—and their descendants will one day read this history and be ashamed.
