Protests against enforced disappearances in Balochistan intensified on Friday as residents of Turbat’s Nasirabad area took to the streets following a series of security raids.
According to locals, security forces searched multiple homes during the operation, detaining several young men whose whereabouts remain unknown. Families allege that residents were mistreated during the raids and subjected to intimidation.
In response, large numbers of women and children blocked Zubaida Jalal Road, suspending traffic for several hours. Demonstrators vowed to continue their sit-in until those detained are released, warning that if authorities fail to act, protests could escalate to block major highways, including routes linked to the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Local sources reported that Nasirabad had already been under curfew in August amid security concerns, when residents were ordered to remain indoors and businesses forced to close. Several individuals were reportedly taken into custody at that time, with families still seeking information on their fate.
The latest protests underscore growing anger in the region over allegations of enforced disappearances and the absence of accountability. Families of detainees say they are determined to continue their demonstrations until their demands are addressed.
