Baloch social media activists have united to mark the anniversary of the February 18, 2011, military operation in Tootak, Balochistan, which is reported to have resulted in significant human rights violations and the loss of lives. The event, remembered under the hashtag #18FebTootakOperation, sees activists reaffirming their demand for justice and international accountability.
In a statement issued by the activists, they said: “On this solemn day, February 18, we remember the tragic events that unfolded in Tootak in 2011, where the voices of freedom were met with violence and oppression. The military operation launched against our people was not just an attack on individuals, but an assault on our very identity and our right to exist as a free nation. We honor the memory of those who bravely stood against the forces of oppression, including the martyrdom of Naeem Baloch and Yahya Baloch, who defended their community with unwavering courage. Their sacrifice serves as a powerful reminder of our struggle and the resilience of the Baloch spirit.”

The activists further highlighted the forced disappearance of 80-year-old Mohammed Rahim Qalandrani and 16 members of his family, emphasizing the ongoing persecution faced by the Baloch community.

As part of their continued campaign, the activists have called on international human rights organisations to hold Pakistan accountable for alleged war crimes in Balochistan. Each year, they gather on social media under the hashtag #18FebTootakOperation to raise their voices and call for justice.
The statement concluded with a plea from Baloch social media activists: “We urge everyone to join us in this campaign, to share our stories, and to ensure that the world knows of our plight. Our struggle for freedom and human rights will not waver; we will continue to fight for the truth and for the liberation of Balochistan.
