Organised by the Baloch Republican Party (BRP), the event took place at the White City Community Centre and brought together political activists, human rights campaigners, journalists, and members of the Baloch and Sindhi diaspora.
The programme, which ran from 2pm to 7pm, included speeches paying tribute to Bugti’s lifelong struggle and sacrifices for the Baloch nation, followed by a community dinner.
Speakers highlighted Bugti’s enduring role in Baloch politics and framed his death as a symbol of the broader struggle for rights and recognition in the region.

London-based Baloch activist Aomar Karim shared on social media: “Today in London, we honoured the legacy of Shaheed Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti on his martyrdom anniversary. His lifelong struggle and sacrifices for the Baloch nation will never be forgotten.”
Earlier in the day, Aomar Karim attended a scheduled court hearing. Upon completing the hearing, he went directly to the remembrance event to show his solidarity and pay tribute to Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. Aomar Karim has been in political exile in the UK since 2022.
The BRP described the event as an opportunity to “remember and celebrate the contributions of a true Baloch leader,” adding that it was open to all political parties, rights groups, and members of the public.
Bugti, who was martyred on 26 August 2006 during a military operation ordered by Pakistan’s former army chief General Pervez Musharraf in Dera Bugti, left behind a political wave that continues to shape Baloch society to this day. Among activists, he is regarded as a lasting symbol of resistance.

Karim highlights the history of Balochistan, reminding the world that Pakistan occupied Balochistan on 27 March 1948, and that before that occupation, Balochistan was a free and independent country.
