Quetta – Baloch Yakjehti Committee has issued a distressing report as Pakistani state security forces continue their violent crackdown on peaceful protesters in Quetta. According to the committee, live rounds have been fired for several hours, with the entire area shrouded in tear gas. Protesters have been left without access to medical care, as ambulances are denied entry, and the region has been plunged into an internet and phone signal blackout.
In a statement released by the committee, they allege that security personnel in civilian clothing are setting fire to city properties and that roads are completely blocked, with search operations ongoing. The situation has escalated further, as grenades have reportedly been thrown at demonstrators, resulting in multiple injuries.
“We remain peaceful and will continue to do so,” stated the Baloch Yakjehti Committee. “We urge the international community to speak out against the brutal violence being perpetrated by the state against peaceful protesters.”
This latest wave of violence highlights the continued state-led oppression in Balochistan, raising grave concerns over the treatment of human rights defenders and peaceful activists. As the crackdown continues, the international community is being called upon to urgently intervene and condemn the actions of the Pakistani security forces.
