With grave concern, we raise our voices against the continuing pattern of enforced disappearances, intimidation, and extrajudicial violence targeting Baloch citizens.
On 12 April 2026, Mahraj, son of Allah Bakhsh, aged 19, a resident of Badrang Greshag, Tehsil Nal, District Khuzdar, and an FSC student, was forcibly disappeared at approximately 8:00 PM from Green Plaza near Children Hospital, Quetta, by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
Prior to this, Mahraj had already been detained by police under FIR No. 67/25. Even after being granted bail, he was kept in custody under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) alongside BYC leaders. He was eventually released on 20 April 2025. Despite the legal process and his compliance with Pakistan’s judicial procedures, he was forcibly disappeared once again.
Mahraj had been regularly attending his trial at Uddah Jail, where he was present with BYC leaders. On 23 April, during the trial, Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders held a protest demanding that Mahraj be produced in court. This demand was supported by lawyers, who urged the presiding judge to pressure higher authorities to end the enforced disappearances of Baloch citizens.

This case exposes a grim reality: even individuals who follow the law and appear before courts are not safe. Enforced disappearances persist despite bail and legal safeguards, undermining justice and due process.
No crime has been proven, and no charges have been formally established against Mahraj. He remains in a torture cell, while BYC leaders continue to face detention. This raises urgent questions about the rule of law and the denial of fundamental rights.
What began with the targeting of Baloch men has now escalated to include women, who are being abducted without charges or legal justification. This escalation is deeply alarming. Across Balochistan, abductions, target killings, and extrajudicial executions are increasing daily. Lives are taken with impunity, and fear is systematically imposed.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee calls upon the people of Balochistan to stand united and support peaceful protests, giving voice to those whose rights are being violated. Silence strengthens injustice; collective action challenges it.
We urgently appeal to national and international human rights organizations to take immediate notice of this crisis. The worsening situation in Balochistan, including the targeting of women, must be addressed without delay. Enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and systemic impunity cannot continue.
